"I was the feisty one"

Crazy Al Cayne TV had the opportunity to do a nice video interview with Luciana at the Big Apple Comic Con:

In this video you can see and hear lovely Luciana talk about Caprica and how Battlestar Galactica keeps continuing in a way because of the conventions. She also states that New York is her favorite city ever and she would love to book a series there. Plus, you get a look at some of the photos available for autographs at her table.

Video: How Luciana was cast in Caprica

Matt of BSGcast, who interviewed Luciana in Las Vegas last year, had the opportunity to do another interview with her at this year’s Dragon*Con.

BSGcast2
This time, Luciana shared her opinions on the finale of Battlestar Galactica and the pilot of Caprica, and of course she talked a bit about her own, upcoming part in Caprica. Not surprisingly, she doesn’t give any spoilers about her character, but she does mention how she was cast, what directors she worked with and how happy she is to be an the show.

She also expresses her hope to find a role in a good TV series this pilot season. I wish her a lot of luck and success there – she would certainly deserve another great role!

A larger version of the video can be found here.

You can watch more interviews and other great videos on the BSGcast website – these video podcasts are really worth watching! Recent interviews include Michael Trucco, Alessandro Juliani, Kandyse McClure and Mary McDonnell. This is also an excellent opportunity to watch (or rewatch) the first wonderful interview BSGcast did with Luciana.

Shooting Battlestar wasn't glamorous

William McCanless from CoastalEmpire.com let us know he interviewed Luciana at Dragon*Con. And what a nice little interview it is! Luciana compliments William on his footwear, recalls the unglamorous days of shooting Battlestar, and she’s happy to work on yet another “amazing show”.

New BSGcast interview coming soon

Remember the cute BSGcast interview? Back in April 2008, at a BSG Season 4.0 premiere party, BSGcast’s Matthew Campagna sat down with Luciana to talk about Battlestar, Urgency and the fans. It’s the best video interview she ever did, and it’s one of my all-time favorites in general.

So I’m very, very happy to report that Luciana is among the actors BSGcast talked to at Dragon*Con earlier this month:

P.S. We’ll be posting our review of the Season 4.5 box set as soon as we’ve put up the last two interviews from Dragon*Con… one with Michael Trucco and one with a Battlestar actor who is ALSO playing a character in Caprica… (source)

Excellent news, huh?

While you’re waiting for that video, I highly recommend watching the 2008 interview as well as BSGcast’s recent, entertaining and insightful, interviews with Mary McDonnell, Kandyse McClure and Alessandro Juliani.

Dragon*Con: Watch the entire Sunday panel!

Hikaruchan is such a blessing for those of us who weren’t able to attend Dragon*Con! A few days ago, she posted the entire Friday Q&A, and now she’s done the same with the Sunday’s Battlestar panel.

This panel consisted of Luciana, Michael Hogan, Richard Hatch, Alessandro Juliani, Kandyse McClure, Mary McDonnell and Kate Vernon.

Part 1:

You should also watch the remaining five parts of the panel. Luciana tells the classic “Crying at LAX” story in part 2, and in the last part she and Mary talk about the shoes Luciana gets to wear on Caprica.

Interview: Luciana supports the troops

As promised, the most recent The Sci Fi Guys live show – the Help for Heroes special which included a prerecorded interview with Luciana – is now available for download. You can download either the full episode (more than two hours, 200 MB, her interview starts after about 95 minutes) or an interview-only version.

Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes

Before answering questions about her life and career, Luciana explained how she became involved with Help for Heroes, a massive charity dedicated to improving the lives of wounded members of the British Armed Forces.

When Luciana had been in London, she was invited to visit one of the Help for Heroes facilities. Luciana talked to some of the soldiers “who put their lives on the line to fight for their country” and was impressed with the work of the chartiy. Hence, she decided to support Help for Heroes . She asked listeners to bid on a bunch of exclusive items sponsored by The Sci Fi Guys, and it sold for 200 pounds by the end of the show!

It’s a worthy cause and a well-respected charity, so if you want to know more about their activities and ways to support them, please visit their website.

Luciana also talked about acting, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, The Chris Isaak Show, and more. The recap continues behind the cut!

Dragon*Con: Watch the entire Friday panel!

How about watching some videos from Dragon*Con? Hikaruchan recorded the entire Friday panel and uploaded the video to YouTube. The participants were Kevin Grazier, Michael Hogan, Alessandro Juliani, Kandyse McClure, Michael Trucco, Kate Vernon – and Luciana in her fantastic blue dress.

Enjoy part 1…

You can find the remaining six parts of the panel at Hikaruchan’s website. Luciana talks about the big reveal in “The Passage” (part 2), she explains that the original cut of “Scar” made Starbuck look much worse and Kat’s reactions more understandable (part 4), and she recalls being taught how to shoot (part 6). Plus, Luciana asks Kandyse about her final scene (part 6).

Today: Sci Fi Guys interview (Update)

Update: The episode will be available for download within 24 hours.

Luciana really had a lot of opportunities to share her thoughts on Battlestar lately. For, next to sitting on four Battlestar panels at Dragon*Con, she also recently did an interview with The Sci Fi Guys:

The Sci Fi Guys and DTRN are proud to announce in association with Help For Heroes a special edition of the hit radio show The Sci Fi Guys featuring Battlestar Galactica and Caprica actress, Luciana Carro. [...]

Luciana talks to Stuart about her beginnings as an actress, her role on Galactica and also how she came to be involved with Help For Heroes.

The Guys will also be taking a look at the special Sci Fi and movie Help For Heroes auction that can currently be found on eBay and has had exclusive items donated by actors from film and television as well as some of the UK’s top conventions (The London Expo, The SF Ball and Wolf Events) all in a bid to earn money for this worthwhile charity.

This exclusive  show starts at 8pm GMT [3pm ET, 12pm PT] on 9th September live from www.dtrn.co.uk and will also feature a mixture of news and reviews and if you want to submit your suggestions or opinions on a news story then feel free to email stuart@dtrn.co.uk or to comment live then visit www.twitter.com/thescifiguys.

Fantastic! Can’t wait to listen to the show tonight! The episode will be available for download within 24 hours.

Luciana Carro interviewed by The Sci Fi Guys

Luciana Carro interviewed by The Sci Fi Guys

Known for their many interviews with genre actors, The Sci Fi Guys is a very good British online radio show / genre podcast, so I really look forward to their latest episode. I fondly remember their interviews with Nicki and other Battlestar actors, or their recording of the hilarious comedy improv at Galactica Three.

By the way, I had never heard of Help for Heroes before, but it appears to be an impressive and very active charity dedicated to helping wounded members of the British Armed Forces. Needless to say, we’re proud Luciana is involved with yet another charitable, honorable cause! And we hope her advocacy will allow Help for Heroes to do even more good work.

Dragon*Con: Battlestar panels, part 1

Dragon*Con is over, but our coverage has just begun! (See this post for the first Luciana pictures from the Atlanta conventi0n.)

Now, did you know that Luciana sat on a Battlestar Galactica panel on each of Dragon*Con’s four days? Amazing! And unprecedented, of course. I so wish I could have been there and listened to her speak (*dreamy*), and I wish there would have been a Caprica panel, too. With James Marsters and Luciana! Oh my…

Anyway, this post is about the first two of the four BSG panels featuring Luciana (actually, there were even more BSG panels, but without Luciana). Thanks to the always reliable ScriptPhD’s fantastic, extensive write-up on those panels (which also includes a few small photos of Luciana), whe know about pretty much all of her answers and comments:

Luciana on watching BSG season 4.5

When Luciana attended Orlando’s MegaCon in early 2009, she was interviewed by Slacker and The Man produced a MegaCon podcast that contained interviews with various guests and attendees.

The short, emotional interview with Luciana is somewhat unusual in that it’s not about Kat’s actual episodes, or any other project of Luciana’s. Instead, she shares her thoughts on the final, controversial and dark, batch of Battlestar episodes, and implies she would have liked to see Kat side with Admiral Adama.

You can listen to the full podcast, listen to a clip containing the interview only, or read Frosty’s transcript here on the Fansite.

Meanwhile, I’m hoping watching Caprica will be just as intense, and constantly evoke the same kinds of conflicted feelings we’ve all had when watching Battlestar
