Urgency released on DVD

As we reported before, Luciana’s new action movie/thriller Urgency will be released on DVD for rental at VideoEzy stores today, November 18, in Australia. So, any Australian fan of Luciana might want to check this movie out and watch her in a role that is quite different from her previous ones.

In case you don’t want to just rent it but to permanently add the film to your collection, you will have to wait until February 18, when it will be made available for buying (also only in Australia). We don’t know yet if and when the movie will be available in other parts of the world.

Thanks to lilylemony of The Combs Corner for finding out the release dates for this film.

For anyone who hasn’t heard of this movie before, here is the official synopsis:

Tony West is a successful pharmaceutical executive living in LA with his loving wife [Luciana]. But after a day of tense negotiations with potential buyers, Tony comes home to find his wife has been kidnapped and that the kidnappers demand he bring $50,000 to them within 90 minutes or she’s dead.

Armed with only his wits and his cell phone, he has no choice but to comply. He soon realizes that this kidnapping is tied to information that he possesses, and people he knows are willing to kill him to get it. As he unravels more and more of the mystery, he realizes that the list of people he can trust is getting shorter and shorter. As time runs out, Tony must decide who is on his side, and who wants him dead.

Caprica: Name of her role revealed

Since it was announced in early August that Luciana would play a role in Caprica, there has been practically no information about her character – other than what kind of shoes she wears.

Now we at least have a name. According to her IMDb profile, Luciana’s character will be called Pryah.

So far, we don’t know anything else about her. We don’t know what her last name will be (we don’t even know for sure Pryah is her first name, though it seems likely), so it is not clear whether this is a character which was mentioned in some the spoilers for the series that found their way to the web, or a role we haven’t heard anything about so far.

It would certainly be interesting if this Pryah turned out to be Youngblood, one of the cops investigating the terrorist bombing of the Maglev (which was seen in the pilot), but this is pure speculation.

IMDb so far lists Luciana for episodes 2, 3 and 4, but their listings aren’t always correct, so this information may be subject to change. It seems plausible, though, as Luciana has filmed three of her five episodes so far.

TV schedule: Britain and United States

Update: Contrary to what I said in the original version of this entry, Snowglobe airs Wednesday (November 11), not Tuesday (November 10). Sorry for the confusion!

Would you like to know when a movie or episode of Luciana’s is shown on television? Well, if you reside in Britain or the United States, we got something for you – TV schedules for America and the United Kingdom!

For example, ABC Family shows lovely Christmas fantasy comedy Snowglobe on November 11 (Wednesday at 9/8c)! You really shouldn’t miss Luciana’s portrayal of a spunky, sarcastic and very pregnant young wife (screencaps and DVD).

The link to both these TV schedules was added to the “What’s hot? What’s next?” box in the sidebar.

Update on Urgency release date

We reported before that Luciana’s new thriller, Urgency, (starring Brian Austin Green, Jeffrey Combs and Luciana Carro) will most likely be released in Australia in November. Now our friend lilylemony, who runs a blog about Jeffrey Combs, called The Combs Corner), did some research and shared the latest information with us on the fanboard.

Urgency (Australian DVD)

Urgency (Australian DVD)

The movie will indeed be released in November (on November 18, to be exact) in Australia, but only for rental. Urgency will be available for buying in Australia on February 18, 2010. This is a bit longer than we had hoped for, but less than four months isn’t really that long, is it?

In the meantime, you can check out the website of Urgency’s Australian distributor, Peacock Films, and watch the trailer there.

Unfortunatley, there is still no information when this movie will be released in other parts of the word.

Till Monday: Everwood eps on TheWB.com

Did you know that Luciana appeared in the final four episodes of Everwood? Too bad they’re not available on DVD. She had a really, really lovely part as main character Ephram’s new love interest, Stephanie Meyer. (I know, that name sounds very familiar now, but when those episodes aired in summer 2006, it didn’t.)

And I just noticed that you can watch those episodes at TheWB.com (episodes 19, 20 and 21/22)! Unfortunately, people from outside America can’t seem to access the videos, and apparently most episodes will be taken down by Monday. So hurry up! This is a must-watch.

Here’s what Luciana said about her gig on Everwood when she answered her fans’ questions for an interview at Galactica BS:

I got hired on the show with the intention of being Ephram’s (Gregory Smith) new love interest. I was hoping the series would get picked up for another season but WB decided to go with 7th Heaven instead. We actually shot two different endings for the season finale. One if we got picked up for season 5 and another if we didn’t. Well unfortunately we didn’t get picked up so Ephram got back together with Amy. BOOO!!

Working on Everwood was a great experience! I had so much fun. It was really refreshing for me to play a character like Stephanie. What I loved most about playing her was that she was a lovable character. She was cool and free of bullshit.

Couldn’t agree more! This is certainly one of Luciana’s roles that I enjoy the most. Plus, she looked fabulous.

By the way: As I wrote three months ago, season 4 may or may not be released on DVD. We have yet to hear any news about that. Keep your fingers crossed! And hopefully, those DVDs will include the alternate scenes Luciana mentioned. That would be a real treat.

Urgency: DVD release in November?

It’s been more than two months since the last bit of news about Luciana’s upcoming movie – independent thriller Urgency. Contrary to what we heard earlier this year, Regent Films obiously didn’t release the movie by the end of summer, and we still don’t have an official release date.

So imagine my surprise when I stumbled over the release schedule of Australia-based distributor Peacock Films. Apparently, Urgency will be released on DVD (Region 4) in November. Finally! The year-long wait is almost over! Let’s hope we’ll soon here about releases in Region 1 (North America) and Region 2 (Europe), too.

Peacock Films’ Urgency page includes a trailer (mostly consisting of scenes we’ve seen before) as well as the following preview of the DVD cover:

Urgency (Australian DVD)

Urgency (Australian DVD)

Obviously, we would have loved to see her face on the DVD jacket, but a DVD cover featuring Luciana is pretty cool nonetheless. Please note that she’s billed third, right after fellow genre veterans Brian Austin Green (“Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles”) and Jeffrey Combs (“Star Trek”, “The 4400″). Apart from short Passageway, this is Luciana’s best billing to date.

Here’s their official synopsis:

Tony West [Green] is a successful pharmaceutical executive living in LA with his loving wife [Luciana].

Just a few more weeks, gentle readers!

Phantom Racer clips and pics

You want to watch Lucci in the role of a tough deputy sheriff (because you think she looks great in uniform, just like probably almost all of her fans do), but you have missed Phantom Racer or don’t want to sit through the entire flick, or both? Or you actually did watch the movie and want to see her scenes again?

Then I have just the thing for you. Because I’ve made clips of all of Luciana’s scenes in this movie, so you can watch her play deputy Monroe right now! You will find download links to the clips in the Phantom Racer media thread on the fanboard, so head over there and get them now!

The only thing I’ve left out are the last few seconds of her last scene because that part is a bit too brutal…

As a bonus, I also made more than 80 screen caps (as addition to the caps Solium made shortly after the movie aired), which you can find in the same thread just below the videos.

So, enjoy watching Lucci in her latest role!

Phantom Racer: Screencaps and some thoughts

Luciana has done comedy, drama, thriller and sci fi, now she can add horror to the list of genres in which she worked.

Luciana plays deputy sheriff Monroe in the movie of the week Phantom Racer, which aired on Syfy last Saturday. For those who haven’t heard of this film before, it’s about a race car which is possessed by the ghost of it’s former driver, who was killed in an accident. He blames his rival J.J. Sawyer (Greg Evigan) for his death and tries to take revenge using his car, killing everyone who gets in his way.

Luciana looks great in uniform, no matter whether it’s in the Colonial fleet in Battlestar Galactica, in the US military in Murder at the Presidio or as a deputy in Phantom Racer. And now you can see for yourself even if you missed the movie, because Solium has made several screen caps of Luciana’s appearance, which you can see here on the fanboard.

On an interesting side note, altogether three actors from Battlestar Galactica appeared in Phantom Racer as the three law enforcement officers. Winston Rekert, who played sheriff Hodges, was seen in BSG as a priest in two episodes, and Colin Lawrence (deputy Jackson) played Racetrack’s ECO Skulls in several episodes of the series.

Luciana did her job of portraying a deputy sheriff well, and it was great to see her play a tough non-nonsense character once again. They didn’t give her much material, but she played the character in a believable way.

Phantom Racer tonight

Update (August 23): Unfortunately, Syfy removed the sneak peek mere hours after the movie had aired.

Tonight’s the night, my fellow fans and friends of Luciana’s! Tonight Luciana’s latest movie, Phantom Racer premieres on Syfy at 9/8c.

In case you’re new here: Part of Syfy’s series of original movies, Phantom Racer is a gory horror flick about a racecar haunted by the evil spirit of a dead driver – and the efforts of another driver to stop the car’s bloody revenge (full synopsis, trailer).

In other words, if you enjoyed Jamie Bamber’s Pulse 2: Afterlife or Katee Sackhoff’s The Last Sentinel, you’re gonna love this one! ;-)

Luciana portrays Deputy Sheriff Monroe, and has at least two scenes.

As it happens, Syfy posted another sneak peek today – and it’s a scene featuring Luciana as Deputy Monroe! The action and style reminds me a lot of Kat in the first episodes of Battlestar season 2. Warning: The clip is intense and spoilery – you wuz warned!

Alright, just a few hours left… I can’t wait to watch the actual movie, and I hope some of you will share your thoughts tomorrow! We’ll post screencaps and clips as soon as possible.

Trailer for Phantom Racer

Update (August 23): Unfortunately, Syfy removed the trailer mere hours after the movie had aired.

With only about a week until Phantom Racer airs, Syfy has finally made a trailer for the movie available. You can watch it here on Syfy’s official website.

If you look close enough, you can see Luciana as Deputy Monroe for a fleeting moment in a scene with Sheriff Hodges about 16 seconds into the video. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it. As you probably can’t see a lot in this fraction of a second, here is a screen cap for you:

By the way, Sheriff Hodges is played by another Battlestar alumnus, Winston Rekert. He played a priest in three episodes of BSG, but none of them featured Luciana.

Phantom Racer will air on August 22 at 9 pm on Syfy.

You can discuss the movie on the Luciana Carro Fanboard.
