"I was the feisty one"

Crazy Al Cayne TV had the opportunity to do a nice video interview with Luciana at the Big Apple Comic Con:

In this video you can see and hear lovely Luciana talk about Caprica and how Battlestar Galactica keeps continuing in a way because of the conventions. She also states that New York is her favorite city ever and she would love to book a series there. Plus, you get a look at some of the photos available for autographs at her table.

Her biggest fan

This is such a great story:

A friend of mine was working on the movie “Good Luck Chuck”. Apparently one of the producers was a huge “BSG” fan, and when she told him that she knew me, he freaked out, as Racetrack was his favorite character. My friend called me and asked if I would come to set to say “Hello”. I asked her several times if she was sure that he was talking about Racetrack. I told her that my part was small and that it was pretty strange for someone’s favorite character to be Racetrack. She swore that he was my biggest fan and begged me to come to set.

So, off I went, and when I arrived, this producer made a huge deal about it. He announced to all the people working around him (many of whom I knew and had worked with before) that I was on the best show on television and that I played the toughest most awesome character on the show. He went on and on and on. Now I am not a shy person, but it was getting pretty embarrassing.

He asked me to take off my sunglasses, so he can see my face better. When I did, he commented on how different I looked than on the show. Of course, I was happy to hear that as I (unlike Racetrack) had made an effort to look decent for this guy. But he didn’t just mean that I was wearing a little more make up than old Maggie. Oh no. This guy was freaking out about how I looked so much more Latina on the show. He commented on how different my hair looks and how he could have sworn it was curly… FINALLY clue in.

He thinks I’m Kat [played by Luciana Carro]. Duh! It all makes sense now. When he comes up for breath, I tell him (in front of a bunch of my former co-workers) that he has mistaken me with someone else. I tell him that he is talking about Kat. I tell him that I am Racetrack. He asks: “WHO!?”

Oh my gosh, that’s so hilarious!

(I wonder if that was the same producer whom Luciana met at some audition and who was so excited about meeting her that he asked her to leave for a minute so he could relax. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a video or transcript of her telling this cute story.)

Then again: Poor Leah! That must’ve been a horrible moment. She and Racetrack really deserve a little more appreciation. I remember meeting Leah at last year’s FedCon, and she was so much fun.

The paragraphs quoted above are from an interview that German website e!Guide-Network did for their Kyle XY section a while ago. Leah reflects on being a mother to the child she recently adopted in Ethiopia (wow!), and she also talks about her days on Battlestar and Kyle XY. Read the interview here.

TV schedule: Britain and United States

Update: Contrary to what I said in the original version of this entry, Snowglobe airs Wednesday (November 11), not Tuesday (November 10). Sorry for the confusion!

Would you like to know when a movie or episode of Luciana’s is shown on television? Well, if you reside in Britain or the United States, we got something for you – TV schedules for America and the United Kingdom!

For example, ABC Family shows lovely Christmas fantasy comedy Snowglobe on November 11 (Wednesday at 9/8c)! You really shouldn’t miss Luciana’s portrayal of a spunky, sarcastic and very pregnant young wife (screencaps and DVD).

The link to both these TV schedules was added to the “What’s hot? What’s next?” box in the sidebar.

Kat meets Boba Fett

When fandoms collide! Wizard Entertainment released a couple photos of Luciana at the Big Apple panel, and one picture which shows another sci-fi celebrity at her table — Daniel Logan, Young Boba Fett from Star Wars: Episode II! Cool.

Oh, and how about even more great photos from the con?

Enjoy!

Speaking of pictures from Big Apple Comic-Con: Luigi Novi — who attended the event, too — added his photo of Luciana to her Wikipedia biography. Good deed! It really was about time. (Which reminds me, it’s been a very long while since I last updated the career/filmography sections… *cough*)

Dressing up as Louanne Katraine

While Aaron Douglas chose to dress up as Chief Galen Tyrol last weekend, Luciana did not go as Kat. Instead, she crashed a Halloween party in the guise of Shakira! (Heh, this reminds me of a fellow German who saw a picture of Luciana and thought it showed Shakira. I wonder if that happened before.)

Fortunately, there is someone who did dress up as Louanne “Kat” Katraine this year – this woman! She and her friends all dressed up as characters from Battlestar Galactica when they attended Romics 2009 in Italy last month. Fantastic! This has got to be a first. View more pictures here at Flickr.

Comic News Insider interview

Jimmy of Comic News Insider did an interview with Luciana at the Big Apple Comic Con. He got the chance to talk to her Battlestar Galactica co-stars Aaron Douglas and Michael Hogan as well.

You can download the interview from their website. The interview with Luciana begins about one hour and one minute into the file and lasts for about five minutes.

Aaron Douglas’ segment begins 32 minutes into the podcast and Micheal Hogan’s at about 49 minutes.

There is not really any new information in this interview, but it’s very nice to hear Lucci talk. How she foundĀ  out about Kat’s death is the main topic, and she also chats about about Caprica.

November anniversaries

On the first of each month, we look back at TV premieres, appearances at conventions, and other key dates in Luciana’s public life that occurred this month one or more years ago.

Luciana at the Crossroads convention

Luciana at the Crossroads convention

In November, several BSG episodes with Kat premiered, and Luciana attended her second convention in Europe:

  • November 8,2004: This was a very special day – the day that started it all, in a way. It was the first time that Luciana’s most interesting character to date was seen on TV, because her very first BSG episode, “Act of Contrition”, premiered on the British channel Sky One, introducing Kat to the series. (Battlestar Galactica section at the fansite)
  • November 3 and 17, 2006: The episodes “Torn” and “Hero” of Battlestar Galactica air.
  • November 9-11, 2007: Luciana attends the Wolf: Crossroads convention. It’s her first (and, so far, only) con in Germany, and her second one in Europe after the Utopia 8, which had been held just three weeks earlier. Both editors of this blog were there as well and have very fond memories of the event. :-) (Crossroads con at the fansite, with pages for reports, photos and other goodies)

Toronto Comic-Con in March 2010

Did you know that Vcon 30 — held October 2005 in Vancouver — was Luciana’s first convention? You can view a couple nice pictures from that event here at the Fansite. Vcon is also the only con she ever did in her home country. But that’s about to change.

For, Luciana is now also scheduled to appear at one of next year’s many genre/media conventions held in Toronto, the city where she was born:

Toronto Comic-Con
March 26-28, 2010

Direct Energy Centre Exhibition Place
100 Princes Blvd.
Toronto, Ontario
Canada

Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Tru Calling, Buffy) will be there, too, and other Caprica and Battlestar actors are likely to be announced for this event.

Update on Urgency release date

We reported before that Luciana’s new thriller, Urgency, (starring Brian Austin Green, Jeffrey Combs and Luciana Carro) will most likely be released in Australia in November. Now our friend lilylemony, who runs a blog about Jeffrey Combs, called The Combs Corner), did some research and shared the latest information with us on the fanboard.

Urgency (Australian DVD)

Urgency (Australian DVD)

The movie will indeed be released in November (on November 18, to be exact) in Australia, but only for rental. Urgency will be available for buying in Australia on February 18, 2010. This is a bit longer than we had hoped for, but less than four months isn’t really that long, is it?

In the meantime, you can check out the website of Urgency’s Australian distributor, Peacock Films, and watch the trailer there.

Unfortunatley, there is still no information when this movie will be released in other parts of the word.
